The river Padma and river Gorai mostly influence the economy of Kushtia District. People residing on the bank of the rivers are dependent on the river for agriculture, fish culture, forestry and other domestic purposes. On the contrary, they become the victims of river erosion, floods, siltation, lack of water flow etc. With this reality, SETU undertook this program in order to capacitate the people in river-based resource management, disaster management, employment creation, social protection etc.
