Non- Formal Primary Education Program
(NFPE)
SETU
opened 50 nos. of Non Formal Primary
Education Centers in different villages
of Mirpur Upazila are of Kushtia District
where a total of 1500 girls and boys
of poor families were enrolled. Under
financial and technical assistance of
BRAC-ESP. SETU has been implementing
this program and enrolled 650 girls
and 850 boys so far. This is a life
oriented education, learners are provided
literacy, numeric knowledge as well
as co-curriculum education.
Outcome:
>>
Literacy rate increased, dropout rate
reduced significantly among the children
poor families.
>> Enrollment of girl child of
disadvantaged families in NFPE schools
virtually reduced the rate of early
marriage.
>> Parents get awareness on the
importance of education through their
participation in meeting. Thus it enhances
community responsibility in development.
